Our rafting age bracket is 14–60, so we do not offer trips for children under 14. For family members aged 14–17, eligibility needs more than age alone. Current rules, the actual route, equipment fit, the child's readiness and the operator's screening all matter. Ask about each child individually before paying for the family.
Begin with the participants
Send actual ages and explain any previous experience in water-based activities. Ask which available trips can be considered for teenagers aged 14–17 after suitability checks and required paperwork. Do not infer eligibility from an adult family member's booking.
If a child is anxious or does not want to join, discuss an alternative plan. A family outing should not become a test of bravery. Adults should also assess their own readiness rather than assuming they can join because they are accompanying a child.
Ask about equipment and instructions
Equipment must fit correctly. Ask how the crew checks fit and what happens if suitable equipment is unavailable. Do not accept loose adult equipment as a substitute for an appropriate fit.
Confirm that the briefing can be understood by everyone. The guide should explain the trip and the required responses. Parents should listen alongside their children rather than assuming they can relay the instructions later.
Choose a suitable outing
A shorter route may be a planning option, but short does not mean risk-free. Ask about the actual river stretch and current conditions. Read the Brahmpuri guide and route comparison as discussion aids, not eligibility approvals.
Check the whole day: travel, waiting, briefing, rafting, changing and food. Avoid arranging a long drive immediately after an already demanding activity.
Agree on the booking terms
Ask what happens if a participant is screened out or if conditions change. Can some family members still join, and how is the amount adjusted? Have the answer in writing before paying.
Keep the packing checklist practical and leave unnecessary valuables behind. Arrange a clear plan for any person who stays on land.
Family enquiry checklist
Send ages, group size, date, accommodation area, swimming ability and any concerns privately. Ask for the actual operating business, suitable route, equipment requirements and cancellation terms.
Read rafting safety and request a family recommendation. Never use an old blog's age limit as the final authority for a new trip.
