If your Rishikesh trip falls near a seasonal closure or monsoon period, confirm current rafting status before arranging your holiday around a departure. River conditions and authority instructions matter more than an old calendar or a seller's informal promise.

Do not use last year's dates as this year's approval

An old reopening announcement is historical information. Ask for current confirmation for the actual route and day. The season page explains how to separate broad planning from daily operation.

Do not look for an unauthorised trip when an activity is closed. A closure should change your itinerary, not your willingness to follow the rules.

Make a flexible travel plan

If rafting is the main reason for your visit, ask about likely operation before booking non-refundable transport and accommodation. Understand that a forecast or expected opening period is still not a guarantee.

Check cancellation terms for weather and operating changes. Ask separately how your hotel or transport provider handles cancellations; the rafting provider's terms do not automatically cover those costs.

Choose alternatives suited to conditions

When rafting is unavailable, you can plan a town-based visit with cafes, yoga, cultural sites or other activities that are open and appropriate. Check local access and weather advice before setting out.

Avoid replacing a closed rafting trip with unsupervised swimming, riverside exploration in unsuitable conditions or another activity affected by the same weather. Moving water remains hazardous even when no commercial trip is operating.

Keep transport realistic

Road conditions and local traffic can affect your day. Ask your accommodation for current practical guidance and leave a margin. Do not copy a dry-season itinerary without checking whether it is suitable for your dates.

The location guide and travel guide help you prepare questions rather than promise travel times.

Before you pay

Ask whether the route is currently operating, what changes remain possible, how you will be contacted and whether a cancelled departure is refunded or rescheduled. Keep that answer with the quote.

Enquire about your date and choose a flexible itinerary if rafting is uncertain.
